Joaquin Phoenix Wanted Thomas Wayne Excluded From ‘Joker’ Script’Joker’ Earns High Rotten Tomatoes Score From Film Critics Stay on target Not that I’m watching much Cartoon Network these days but even I know that wacky superhero comedy Teen Titans Go is one of the channel’s biggest hits. They even went to the movies last summer. Surely something this harmless couldn’t be controversial. But Teen Titans Go isn’t just a wacky superhero comedy. It’s also a re-imagining of the beloved original 2003 Teen Titans cartoon, itself a stylish adaptation of the legendary 1980s New Teen Titans run. And fans of that show haven’t enjoyed watching it be replaced by this sillier follow-up. Plus the new show loves making fun of fans of the old show which is honestly great. And yet, as a die-hard fan of that original show who doesn’t care one way or another about Go, the best thing I can say about this trailer for the upcoming crossover Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans is that it doesn’t anger me. See for yourself.Like last year’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans has the two teenage superhero groups teaming up from across dimensions to take on bigger threats like Raven’s demonic father Trigon… and Santa Claus.First teased at the end of Teen Titans Go to the Movies, this is direct-to-video film clearly still focuses on the newer Titans. The original crew appear to be guest stars and even their anime-inspired designs are slightly tweaked for the newer style. Plus we see hints of other horny Titan incarnations joining the fight.Still, what’s always been weird to me about this schism is that the original Teen Titans cartoon was also funny. It was more dramatic and emotional but it wasn’t this brooding overly serious DC bore that this new trailer tries to retcon it into. That’s Young Justice and the live-action Titans show both on DC Universe. But whatever, I’m still looking forward to revisiting my Teen Titans when Teen Titans Go! Vs. Teen Titans releases later this year.
